Private Fracture Clinic

Our Private Fracture Clinic is a new initiative to meet the needs of patients with acute and sub-acute trauma. It allows timely access to an orthopaedic surgical opinion as well as commencement of a rehabilitation program which will be followed up by your regular general practitioner and/or regular allied health practitioner.

You will see two practitioners: Dr Amy Touzell, Orthopaedic Surgeon, and a member of our Allied Health team.

Commonly referred injuries include

  • Ankle fractures and sprains

  • Wrist fractures

  • Clavicle fractures

  • Achilles tendon ruptures

  • Base of fifth metatarsal fractures

Dr Touzell and our Allied Health specialist will review your imaging, examine your affected limb and formulate a management plan. Plasters will be removed and re-applied if required. The cost of any fiberglass or plaster of paris application is included in your fracture clinic fee. Please note we do not supply waterproof casts.

The cost of the consultation for review at our Fracture Clinic is $160, some of which may be rebatable through your private health insurance. Dr Touzell's fee is bulk-billed. Should you require an orthotic device such as a CAM boot, there will be an additional fee for the cost of the device.

The clinic accepts both insured and uninsured patients, including Workers' Compensation and TAC patients (we request prior approval for the consultation from the third party). We are also happy to accept post-operative patients for post-operative rehabilitation planning. You must have a referral from your general practitioner, emergency department practitioner or other medical doctor prior to your appointment.

The clinic currently runs most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at our private consulting rooms.
